PwC Legal advises Mediengruppe Oberfranken on the acquisition of a majority stake in Edelweiss72

Frankfurt am Main, August 30th 2016.

PwC Legal advised the Bamberg-based Mediengruppe Oberfranken (MGO) on the acquisition of shares in Edelweiss72 GmbH, a Munich-based agency for interactive media. MGO is now the new majority stakeholder in Edelweiss72, which will continue to operate as an individual brand and handle client projects nationwide independently of the Bamberg media group’s business portfolio.

The experts at PwC Legal provided comprehensive legal advice to MGO on all issues relating to both the acquisition of the majority holding in Edelweiss72 and the design of the shareholder structure, particularly the design and negotiation of contracts. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Based in Bamberg, Mediengruppe Oberfranken (MGO) publishes five local daily newspapers in the Franconia region (Fränkischer Tag, Bayerische Rundschau, Coburger Tageblatt, Saalezeitung and Die Kitzinger) and maintains the online news portal inFranken.de. In addition, the group owns printing works and specialist publishers across Germany. MGO has approximately 1,000 employees.

Based in Munich, Edelweiss72 is an agency that implements complex online projects and develops solutions along the entire digital value chain. Their area of expertise spans from online portals, intranet platforms and webshops to apps and business intelligence applications. Founded in 2006, the company now counts 40 employees between its two offices in Munich and Hamburg.
