PwC Legal advises GENUI Partners on the acquisition of two tourism companies

PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal AG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft (PwC Legal) has advised the Hamburg-based investment company GENUI Partners on the acquisition of two tourism companies, Berge & Meer Touristik GmbH and Boomerang Reisen GmbH. Both companies were sold by the TUI Group tourism company, based in Hanover.

PwC Legal advised the investor on all merger control aspects of the transaction, with particular focus on registration of the project with the German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt) and the Austrian Federal Competition Authority (Bundeswettbewerbsbehörde).

GENUI Partners is a private investment firm that makes long-term investments in medium-sized businesses in German-speaking countries.

Berge & Meer Touristik GmbH is one of the leading direct providers of package tours to over 140 countries. Founded in 1978 in Rengsdorf, in Germany’s Westerwald region, the company employs some 350 people and, together with its subsidiaries, had a turnover of more than €260 million in 2018.

Boomerang Reisen GmbH is a specialist tour operator offering individual long-haul holidays. The company was founded in 1994 and has branches in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The company employs 80 people and generated over €23 million in turnover in the last financial year.
