Düsseldorf, 2 July 2020

PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal AG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft (PwC Legal) has provided comprehensive legal advice to Iyuno Media Group regarding the acquisition of Scalamedia Gesellschaft für Film und Fernsehproduktionen mbH. PwC Legal handled the negotiations for the share purchase agreement and carried out the due diligence. The closing of the transaction is still subject to antitrust approval. Tax and financial due diligence as well as advice on tax structuring were also provided by PwC.

Iyuno Media Group is a globally operating corporate network for entertainment technology, market leader in the field of language localization technology and end-to-end provider of post production services. Thereby the group offers dubbing, subtitling, access and media services in over 80 languages. At present, Iyuno Media Group is active in 35 locations worldwide and has offices in 30 countries across Europe, Asia, Middle East and the Americas. Its customers include broadcasters, major film studios and global streaming platforms.

The Iyuno Media Group is backed by the venture capital firm SoftBank Ventures Asia, Swedish private equity firm Altor and Los Angeles-based investment firm Shamrock Capital. The acquisition of Scalamedia is the first transaction after the 2019 merger of BTI Studios and Iyuno.

Scalamedia was founded in 1987 under the name of Preuss and has understood dubbing as an artistic achievement since the beginning. With dubbing and post-production areas of over 2,500 sqm, Scalamedia is one of the largest Munich and Berlin-based operators to join Iyuno Germany, a division of Iyuno Media Group’s global network.

Following the acquisition of leading German dubbing company Berliner Synchron GmbH, which was also advised by the PwC Legal and PwC teams, Iyuno Media Group is further expanding its services in Germany by acquiring Scalamedia.
