PwC Legal strengthens the Real Estate Practice Group at the Frankfurt office
Frankfurt am Main/Düsseldorf, 20 July 2021
PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal AG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft (PwC Legal) is further expanding its Real Estate Practice Group: Local Partner Christiane Conrads (45), LL.M. moved from the London office to Frankfurt on 1 July 2021. Together with Mario Lindner (47), LL.M. and Diplom-Kaufmann, who joined PwC Legal as Senior Manager on 1 June 2021, she will continue to develop the real estate practice. The team led by Christiane Conrads and Mario Lindner specialises in real estate transactions, legal issues in asset management and the area of environmental, social and governance (ESG) and is closely integrated into the international real estate industry group of the PwC network. PwC Legal will also strengthen the practice group with further additions in the near future.
Christiane Conrads has been a Director / Local Partner at PwC’s London office since 2018, where she led the German Real Estate Desk. Prior to joining PwC, she worked at the then London office of Lupp + Partner and practised real estate law in Cologne at DLA Piper from 2008 to 2016. Christiane Conrads advises international and national real estate investors on real estate transactions and asset management. She has also been known in the market in the area of ESG since 2012.
Since November 2020, Christiane Conrads leads the interdisciplinary EMEA Real Estate ESG practice at PwC and since May 2021 she leads the Global Legal ESG Group together with the Australian PwC Legal Partner Clare Pope. In connection with the professional relocation, Christiane Conrads is also moving her residence back to Germany. Due to her EMEA and global roles, she will continue to work closely with PwC’s London office.
Mario Lindner joined the PwC Legal team on 1 June 2021 to expand the real estate practice at PwC Legal’s Frankfurt office together with Christiane Conrads. Mario Lindner was most recently an Associated Partner at BDO Legal in the Real Estate and Finance practice. He began his career at Linklaters in 2001 and subsequently developed expertise in real estate finance and restructuring over many years at DLA Piper – last as an equity partner.
Christiane Conrads and Mario Lindner know each other since 2006 and have advised various well-known clients on real estate transactions and financings during their time together at DLA Piper until 2016. They also have many years of expertise in the area of ESG and green financing.
The advisory focus of Christiane Conrads and Mario Lindner is on real estate transactions and financing, ongoing advice on real estate business law and ESG. ESG-related advice in particular has become significantly more important in the last 14 months due to increasing regulatory requirements and investor demand. PwC Legal expects that the requirements in this area will continue to increase over the next few years and that an interdisciplinary approach will be required.
Thomas Veith, Head of Real Assets at PwC Germany, comments: “We are very pleased about the moves of Christiane Conrads and Mario Lindner to Frankfurt. Our real estate practice is an integral part of our interdisciplinary advisory approach and clearly in focus of our growth strategy. With these and further additions, we are taking this into account.”
