PwC Legal advises Howden Capital Markets & Advisory (EU) GmbH on obtaining an Investment Firm Licence

Frankfurt am Main, 25 June 2026

A team from PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal AG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft (PwC Legal) has successfully advised Howden Capital Markets & Advisory (EU) GmbH (HCMAEU) on the application for obtaining a licence as an investment firm pursuant to the German Securities Institutions Act (Wertpapierinstitutsgesetz – WpIG). The German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht – Bafin) granted HCMAEU the authorization as an investment firm on 2 April. This enables HCMAEU to provide regulated investment services in Germany and the European Union going forward.

PwC Legal provided comprehensive support to HCMAEU throughout the entire licensing process. The advisory services included, in particular, structuring the licence application, preparing and coordinating the required application documents, and regulatory advice on the organisational and regulatory requirements for an investment firm under the WpIG.

HCMAEU is part of the UK based Howden group, one of the world's largest independent and employee-owned insurance and reinsurance brokers. The Howden group, which includes Howden Re, the insurance broking segment, employs 24,000 people across 57 countries and manages a premium volume of over USD 51 billion. The range of services offered by HCMAEU includes, among others, investment advice, investment broking and other capital markets advisory services.
